OA Workday Saturday the 15th
We wanted to give a quick reminder about the upcoming workday at Camp Davy Crockett, this Saturday the 15th.

We hope to have everyone there and starting to work at 8:00am.
Lunch will be provided! To make sure everyone has enough to eat, please let us know if you are coming by emailing communications@sequoyahlodge184.org.
We need to know soon so we have enough to leave no one hungry!

Service Opportunity (will be rescheduled due to snow)
Please join us Saturday December 15th and Sunday December 16th at 9:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport, TN for the Sequoyah Lodge luminary project.   We will be filling bags with sand and candles, placing and lighting the luminaries for the graves on Saturday, and cleaning them up on Sunday morning.  This helps to raise funds to use for transportation to and from Conclave, NOAC, and other Section and National events.

As the year draws to a close you can now pay your yearly dues by calling the Sequoyah Council Service Center and paying over the phone, or online by clicking here.  If you are planning to attend Spring and Summer Induction, and Fall Fellowship, purchase the Annual Pass that is available for 125$ this covers these main events listed and your 2018 Dues, AND as a bonus the 2019 lodge Banquet is FREE!!!
*You must pay OA dues in addition to your BSA registration in order to stay an active member.*
We want to come to your Troop and share this information and more so please set up your OA Election because:
It’s ORDER OF THE ARROW election time!
All arrangements for Elections should be done ASAP.  Scout Masters and Chapter Chiefs should be working together to set up your final arrangements.

If we have not done your election please get in touch with us ASAP we need to have all elections done very soon! Do you have scouts that are eligible ?
The Order of the Arrow membership requirements are:
  • Unit leader approval. To become eligible for election, a Boy Scout or Varsity Scout must be registered with the Boy Scouts of America and have the approval of his unit leader prior to the election.
  • The unit leader must certify his Scout spirit (i.e., his adherence to the Scout Oath and Law and active participation in unit activities). The unit leader must also certify that the nominee meets all specified requirements at the time of this annual election.
  • Scout must Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.  Scouts must Hold the First Class rank of the Boy Scouts of America, as a minimum.
  • After registration with a troop or team, have experienced 15 days and nights of Boy Scout camping during the two-year period prior to the election.
    • The 15 days and nights must include one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of six consecutive days and five nights of resident camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America. The balance of the camping must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term camps.
  • Candidates for youth membership shall be elected by other youth members in accordance with policies set forth by the national Order of the Arrow committee.

April 26th – Lodge Executive Committee Meeting

We will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Sequoyah Council Service Center to discuss upcoming Lodge business and finalize events.  We encourage all Arrowmen to attend and help their Chapter Chief make informed decisions.

May 4-5 – Council EXPO

The Lodge is looking for volunteers to assist with Friday night camping/registration, as well as with the Friday nigh Cracker Barrel.  Additionally, we will need people to assist with the OA’s necklace making booth and Randy’s BBQ meals on Saturday.  If you are able or interested in assisting, please contact Woodsy at 423-470-8669.  It is very important that we get as many arrowmen as possible as we are raising money of the Council’s Capital Campaign.  Additionally, we will be performing our yearly call-out at the Saturday evening campfire so make sure to come out and support/meet our newly elected candidates.

May 18-20 – Spring Ordeal

The annual Spring Ordeal is just around the corner, so make sure to register by May 15th.  You will be receiving a letter in the mail with a registration form – please fill the registration form out and send it, along with payment, back to the Service Center.  If you prefer to register by phone, please call 423-952-6961.  ALL ATTENDEES MUST REGISTER FOR ORDEAL, EVENING IF THEY HAVE AN ANNUAL PASS, OR ARE PLANNING TO PAY ON-SITE FRIDAY NIGHT.


Thanks to everyone who attended Conclave at Camp Mack Morris this past weekend.  Because of you, the Section was able to host almost 600 people from across 5 states in one of the most exciting events of the year.  Everyone had a great time, and there was plenty of fellowship and awards.  Congratulations to all of our award/honors winners, you did a fantastic job and have made Sequoyah proud!!  If you want to know more about Conclave, or how to register for Conclave 2019, chat with your Chapter Chief/Adviser or track down someone who went this year.

Vigil Honoree Weekend and Gathering

October 6th – 7th

All Lodge Vigil members are invited to attend the weekend and ceremony, and honor our newest Vigil Honors. We will be meeting at Camp Davy Crockett at 7:00 p.m. on October 6th for dinner with the weekend events to follow. The cost for the weekend is $15 – Please call the Sequoyah Council Service Center at (423) 952-6961 to register, or get additional information.

Work Day at CDC

October 14 2017

We will work to dismantle and move the current seating from the OA circle. Working with Ranger Jeff we will be having a second work day to build new seating. Please arrive at Camp Davy Crockett at 8:30 am, bring gloves and a water bottle. We should be finished before lunch, however, bring a bag lunch if you feel that you will need to eat before 12:30.

Lodge Leadership Development

November 17th-19th – Gatlinburg, TN 

Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) is a weekend training event hosted by the Lodge in Gatlinburg, TN. We will spend the weekend participating in the highest caliber training sessions led by special guests and some of the Region’s top trainers, as well as in fellowship. Sequoyah Lodge has been chosen to Beta Test the Brand New National LLD Program – this means we will be some of the very first Arrowmen to see and participate in new national standard for lodge trainings! While this weekend is geared toward our Arrowmen, we HIGHLY encourage families to come down with them for the weekend and take advantage of group pricing on the hotel rooms as well as the holiday shopping sales! There will be plenty of time throughout the weekend for families and Arrowmen to meet up and spend time together, so why not come on down for a little vacation!?!? To register, call the Sequoyah Council Service Center at (423) 952-6961 or register online now.   The cost for the weekend covers hotel rooms for Friday night and Saturday night, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, lunch and training materials for our Arrowmen on Saturday, and will be as follows:  

 YOUTH Arrowmen (ages 20 and younger) – $75 per person, 4 people to a room

 ADULT Arrowmen (ages 21 and older) – $110 per person, 2 people to a room

 Family Rooms – $210 per room plus $15 per person attending training

 OR: Come for just the day training for $25 each – pay onsite. 


 Winter Banquet – Tickets on sale now

Our annual Lodge Winter Banquet is coming up quickly! This year, it will be hosted by the Bischuwi Aney Chapter at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. The date to save on your calendars is December 2nd at 6:00 pm! Tickets are $15 and are on sale now! (See your Chapter Chief or call the Sequoyah Council Service Center) Remember, walk-ons are highly discouraged – this is so we can ensure we have enough food for everyone!


 Luminary Project will be Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th, 2017 at 9:00 am. This is the annual Luminary project at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport, TN. Please come out and help if possible – a lot of help will be needed!

 Please pre-register for the Niswonger Children’s Hospital Gift Wrap One Day of Service on Friday December 22nd from 1pm – 4pm.   We will be meeting at the Niswonger Children’s Hospital to wrap toys for the children.  Please register using this form if you are planning to help out.


January 6th, 2:00 PM – NOAC Contingent Meeting

Our Lord of the Rings theme will let you use your imagination while chapters take on each other in their quest for the award! The cost for the weekend is $30 and includes meals and a patch. Lodge Leadership Development – Saturday, November 17th, 2018

Our annual Lodge Leadership Development training will be on Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at the Johnson City Public Library from 10:00am – 3:00pm.  There’s still time to register for this event! Come out and join us with the Southern Region Chief as we build our skills for the coming years. You can pay at the door, but you must register before. LEC – Saturday, November 17th, 2018

The next Lodge Executive Committee Meeting will be on Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at the Johnson City Public Library at 2:00pm.  All arrowmen are encouraged to attend, and help their chapters make the most informed decisions about the Lodge.

Annual Finance Review Meeting – Saturday, November 17th, 2018

The Lodge’s annual review of finances will be on Saturday, November 17th, 2018.  The location will be announced at LLD and will run from 3:30pm-4:30pm.  This meeting will review the event fees for 2018 and will set event fees for 2019.  All arrowmen will have a voice and are urged to attend to help set the future direction of the Lodge.

Winter Banquet – Saturday, December 1st, 2018
